I have the original CL case. I am certain the Zhou case is much better; the original one is impractical and the Zhou case allows you to hang the camera conventionally, which is much better. My camera is dented at one edge – it bangs against things when you sit down. THe Zhou case would easily prevent this.

User feedback for Leica M5 case
…- well half-case. And I find it to make this camera more usable with it as it makes it a lot more comfortable to hold due to built-in grip into the Zhou case. Taking case off for the film change is not a problem for me – its very simple task and I dont use my M5 at AK-47′s speed, so I can actually slow down for a minute to do it. I dont think that case adds that much bulk, really. Put a 90 Summicron on your M – now thats some bulk!
So, for me it was money WELL SPENT on the half case…

…I’ve had a Mr. Zhou Tan M5 case for about a year, and I really like it. In fact, i’d highly recommend it. Looks great on my chrome M-5, and fits it well.
Very few items are available -new- for the Leica M-5. This is one worth getting…

It’s the first picture I received from my customer. The photo and message was passed to me by Stephen Gandy on 1st Nov. 2007. Stephen was my only distributor for my cases in the US. The M case in the photo was my first design for Leica M camera.

I could go on and on about the quality, fit and functionality of the Zhou leather half case I just received.
Here’s the bottom line in a nutshell…

I opened the box and slipped my M6 into the half-case. IMMEDIATELY… I MEAN IMMEDIATELY i knew the only time this case would ever be off my camera was while i’m reloading film.

The fit is perfect. The added contours on the front and back are the perfect addition, adding just the right amount of ”hold-ability”. The camera feels more at home than in my hand, if that’s possible.

Every shooter of Leica M cameras should invest in one of these cases, period.

This is a modern classic.
